Galway is a City and County on the West Coast of Ireland.
The Irish Woodturners' Guild was founded in 1982 by Liam O'Neill, the well-known
Irish wooturner/sculptor. In 1992, Joe Stephens and Tony Flannery placed an
advertisement in the local press inviting interested parties to the inaugural meeting
on 4th February, 1992. At this meeting, the Galway Chapter was formed as a member
Chapter of the Irish Woodturners' Guild.
The Chapter currently has about forty members and meets twice a month from September to June.
